Memory / Context Integrity
A cross-feature audit identifies and corrects interference between Memory and Context, then evaluates causal retrieval and combined restoration.
Date: 2026-09-21 Conclusion: CORRECTABLE CROSS-FEATURE INTERFERENCE FOUND AND FIXED
Scope
This audit tested Persistent Transformer-Connected Memory V1 against the implemented Parallel Context Drone Architecture V1. Memory V1 remains qualified only for deterministic structural-v1 entity/relation addressing. Context Drone V1 remains implemented with behavioral qualification pending; this audit establishes coexistence and isolation only.
Shared execution path
The only shared execution file is [private artifact].
- Foundation embeddings and transformer blocks run.
- Memory forms its query and retrieves/injects its latent value.
- Context reads selected drones, normalizes each latent independently, and adds the bounded
0.05 / selected-context-countresidual fusion. - Final RMS normalization and the language head generate output.
Therefore Context cannot alter the Memory V1 address: structural-v1 derives from original byte-token input before Context fusion. Memory does precede Context, so Context sees the post-memory hidden state, while its own stored latents remain independent of that state.
Four-mode and regression results
| Mode | Memory read | Context read | Structural answer |
|---|---|---|---|
| A: both off | none | none | baseline output |
| B: memory only | S-00000, score 1.0 | none | memory answer |
| C: context only | none | G + C0–C3 | baseline output |
| D: both on | S-00000, score 1.0 | G + C0–C3 | memory answer |
Memory-only and both-enabled regressions were both 100% on 250 direct and 250 structural queries. The structural causal control was 100% enabled and 2% when injection was blocked or Memory was disabled. The 100-query structural update regression was 100%. Combined Memory-plus-Context subprocess restore was 50/50.
Context-only engineering checks passed: four local drones and independent G were created, transformer hidden state changed when Context was enabled, movement/reset/update remained isolated, and projection to G was explicitly non-mutating. Context is not yet a semantic answer source, so a request to compare a Memory answer against a Context answer is outside its qualified behavior; the audit instead confirmed that unrelated Context state neither replaced nor degraded the Memory answer.
State, artifacts, and correction
Foundation SHA-256 stayed [checksum retained in the private evidence record]. No adaptive units were loaded or trained. Memory operations left every C1–C4 and G state hash unchanged. Context move/reset/update operations left the Memory store checksum unchanged. Memory and Context were saved and restored as separate artifacts.
The first audit run found two narrow defects: disabled paths retained stale read telemetry, and reattaching a store without an explicit interface reset the configured memory gate. The fix clears disabled read records and preserves the parameter-free interface configuration through detach/reattach. Targeted Memory/Context tests passed after the fix, and the full matrix was rerun.
The final machine-readable evidence is [retained internal evidence]. It includes all mode metrics, state hashes, artifact hashes, combined restore evidence, and residual diagnostics. The measured hidden-state delta norms were 165.90 for Memory, 2.23 for Context, and 165.79 with both active; no numerical dominance caused a behavioral regression in this audit.
