Self-Chosen Learning Scopes / V82–V82.4
Self-chosen learning scopes improved frozen predictions, but all V82 versions failed qualification. A 6,000-run confirmation of the retained V82.2 state reached 82.5% versus 79.8%, a 2.8-point gain below the required three points. V82.4 later failed validation and left its sealed set unopened.
CONTROL COMPARISON
Detect deficient feature regions from verified outcomes, open temporary MicroModels, replay relevant history, and validate successive promotions. V82.1 allows concurrent units; V82.2 adds a local application gate. V82.3 freezes that learned state and tests 6,000 fresh runs, with 1,000 per regime. V82.4 separately tests challenger-based scope proposals on a fresh 5,300-outcome stream.
Every version failed its own locked gates. V82.3 improved average accuracy and calibration and passed the one-point maximum-regression condition, but missed the overall and high-dimension three-point improvement gates. The V82.2 state remains retained best, not qualified or attached to the default prototype. V82.4 is not an improvement and is not retained best. No gate was lowered.
- V82 · validation
- Only one promotion; two required; sealed not executed
- V82.1 · 1,500 sealed runs
- 82.9% versus 80.5%; two regime regressions beyond tolerance
- V82.2 · 1,500 fresh sealed runs
- 83.9% versus 80.0%; base regime loses 1.2 points
- V82.3 · 6,000 fresh confirmation runs
- 82.5% versus 79.8%; approximately +2.8 points
- V82.3 high-dimension regime
- +2.8 points; three required
- V82.4 · validation
- One promotion; two required; 6,000 sealed configurations unopened

Comparative standing and locked gates
Every version failed its own locked gates. V82.3 improved average accuracy and calibration and passed the one-point maximum-regression condition, but missed the overall and high-dimension three-point improvement gates. The V82.2 state remains retained best, not qualified or attached to the default prototype. V82.4 is not an improvement and is not retained best. No gate was lowered.
Interpretation and limitations
One synthetic task and one learner. Earlier scopes are conjunctions of at most two feature bounds and can identify correlates instead of the deficient region. Confirmation used unchanged state after an earlier failure and is a separate frozen evaluation, not a retroactive pass. No further sealed draw is permitted for that candidate. Better scope selection and independently qualified multi-regime learning remain open.
